My current reading matter Australian Pastoral by Jeanette Hoorn. As an artist involved in the landscape tradition I’m curious as to how the australian landscape elevated by art history perpetuates colonial ideals. I’m working to create an intellectual space for the works I create that appreciates women’s place in the western understanding of the Australian landscape and works towards disabling the power structures inherent in the depiction of the pastoral. This is a big challenge.
The beautiful image on the right is an exhibition invite featuring the work of the very talanted Kotoe Ishii who unfortunately does not seem to have her own website.
